AEF Moringa was established in 2013 with three goals.

(a.) the promotion of general education, and especially vocational training for young African girls from disadvantaged families. For this purpose Moringa has developed operational links with religious orders historically active in providing shelter and assistance to young girls, as well as with the Comunita’ Abele (www.GruppoAbele.org) that is widely recognized for its work in favor of youth at conflict with the law.

(b.) the assistance to children without identity (papers) and their families to acquire anagraphical recognition in the municipalities of residence. For this purpose Moringa has established working relations with the Community of Sant’Egidio (www.santegidio.org), a lay association with 50.000 members in more than 70 countries that, besides philanthropic and religious work, is highly regarded as mediator in peace negotiations.

(c) the development of indigenously managed micro-financing, to help local communities acquire know-how and funding skills necessary to offer small-size financial services to low-income individuals or to those who do not have access to typical banking services. For this purpose, Moringa has established working links with the Catholic Relief Services of America (www.CRS.org).

At present, the main activities of AEF Moringa are planned in Ivory Coast, in the wider region of the capital Abidjan (area of Grand Bassam) as well as in the province of Adzope, in the south east of the country. Additional activities in Burkina Faso, especially regarding the development financing skills, are under development.
